Hold my beer was my first ever Beetle build. Of course inspired by Tough as Nails a amazing robot not build by me. It was build specifically for the web-series Bugglebots.
I used very basic parts for this robot. The blue plastic was was sourced from HDPE cutting board. Most plastic cutting boards are made of HDPE quality might very, so i looked for higher end ones that specifically mentioned it was made out of HDPE 500. I found them in a Dutch webshop for restaurants, the nice part is, because of food regulations you can select serval different colours. Im sure you can find them cheaper, but i wanted to certain it was HDPE 500.
I 3d printed a template for so i could cut them with a router, after i rough cut them with a band-saw.
The wheels are silicone couplers for coolant in cars, pretty grippy on most surface and also pretty resilient, the middle part is HDPE i cut with a hole saw.
Motor’s for drive and weapon are the basic AliExpress motors , be sure to get some Hexagon Couplers for them if you need a easy way to connect wheels.
Speed controller are VEX motor controller 29’s of which i had to remove the casing for them to fit inside the robot.
